This year we have an Obstacle Race Course (OCR) Zone where you can find out more about obstacle races and gain some inspiration to try something different. No special kit or clothing is required for our trial obstacles so just come along and ask to try out the obstacles!
Spartan is a global leader in the sport of obstacle course racing with events suitable for all levels from absolute beginners to experienced runners and obstacle racers. The OCR zone will consist of several signature Spartan obstacles for you to try out as well as some competitions to take part in. If you want to know more or receive some tips and tricks to get you around the course pop along and give it a try. There will be members of staff on hand to guide you and answer any questions as well as having some of their Elite racers and community members to talk you through the various aspects of a Spartan race weekend. If you are not ready to try out the obstacles you can watch videos of past races to give you an idea of what to expect and there will also be some Spartan merchandise available.
Spartan Races feature varying distances for both beginners and elite runners to challenge themselves and test their limits. The series includes the very accessible Sprint (5km, 20 obstacles), the intermediate Super distance (13km, 25 obstacles) and the mighty Beast (20km, 30 obstacles).
If these events leave you wanting more there is also the Spartan Ultra (50km, 60 obstacles), the pinnacle of Spartans race distances, featuring unique course elements and obstacles. There are also the newly rebranded Spartan Extreme Endurance events – team-based events designed to push racers to greater personal distances and learn the value of teamwork. You discover the connection between teamwork and success and how one drives the other on both a personal level and as a member of something greater than yourself.
2018 was the most exciting year to date with the highest number of participants in UK history, across more events than ever before and including a new venue in Scotland and launching in Ireland for the very first time.
